Russell Whyman Billed as a concept album this is a one man project (with the obligatory female backing vocals of course).

Also tagged as epic and guitar rock, I think these are all accurate. Good music with a variety of influences. I think I even heard some Rush in there somewhere and definitely some Yes.

The playing is good and vocals are OK. Not as accessible as some of the other albums in my collection, I think this will grow on me as I listen more.

terrapin station If you like Coheed and Cambria you are going to love this. All done by one man, Bob Baxter with the help of some female backing vocals, you can tell this is a labour of love. Great vocals and guitar playing. This is a hidden jem waiting to be discovered. Give it a go. Favorite track: Bedtime Stories.

You know, before I sleep I lock every door There are things that people want from me And I think you should know I'll give you all you need To be the greatest man to ever sing a song Or write a tune that can change how people think Oh, it's true So, listen close to me Don't forget a story My mistakes will help you one day Because when you're on top you're just alone and afraid I was about your age when the magic came to me With birds whistling in the forest My parents used their words to make a livelihood with work And we kept it contained within our home On my 13th birthday I got my first guitar I played until my hands bled And I started writing all these songs I didn't know what I was doing I know there isn't much for you to say But I will save you from these things That put my talents to waste When I learned to sing I gave up what a normal child would do I wanted to move the world And believe you me It takes more than a day for you to reap the reward It takes discipline And it takes time And it takes the courage to face your fears And it takes might And it takes the strength to change yourself

Don't hold your breath Because every word deserves its time I know I'm just a wicked man But I'm wiser at this point in life There's nothing better Than the feeling of the air that surrounds your body And watching everything move in slow motion (Only to savor your words) There's nothing better Than the feeling of the warmth that will form your magic And making the world change (However you want to) So, don't hold your breath Because every man deserves his time I speak from experience And I hope you will find the right melodies I hope you find a way to use your voice to set your heart ablaze And use the echoes as a sign for when the world is too dark to see An aging man would see That there's no recourse for the blood that was taken from those innocent bodies And I could never begin to explain how wrong it feels to steal the song of your kin There's nothing better Than the feeling of the air that surrounds your body And watching everything move in slow motion (Only to savor your words) There's nothing better Than the feeling of the warmth that will form your magic And making the world change (However you want to) So, don't hold your breath Because every voice deserves its time You'll feel in your heart when the song is right So, don't hold your breath Oh Baby Boy, I see myself in your eyes You will feel in your heart

Whisper 04:20
There's a picture of you here Standing right beside me With the warm summer wind coursing through your dress But now I'm so alone And now I must move on There's a world outside our boring little home And I will seize it I will squeeze every inch of life that it has Until I'm whole Mighty oaks from little acorns grow Don't let her know The world will now whisper my name The thought of me will bring so much fear To all the powerless ones that can't find their voice The world will now whisper my name A silent song in your ears A triumph of all that I've done So, let's rejoice It's the power that compels me to search for higher life The water is cold here but it will surely open your eyes It will steal from your lungs It will furrow your brow But you will be known for your sound And as I ascend into the highest of the sky My lungs are caving in I now approach the man that I once strived to be The world will now whisper my name The thought of me will bring so much fear To all the powerless ones that can't find their voice The world will now whisper my name A silent song in your ears A triumph of all that I've done So, let's rejoice

There is simply an order In which the thoughts seep into my brain And on top of all, I think I must stay miserable or it all fades away I'm backed in a corner to create aural alchemy It just gets harder when I'm running circles in my ever-present hate I bring this upon myself It's the only way I can write these spells anymore I need a sense that I'm just about to fall right off the world There is simply an order In which the words fall onto the page And most all, I think A bird helps conjure what the people want to say I'm backed in corner to create something moving But it just gets harder when you're not moved by anything

It's just a matter of time before I get that feeling again I lock myself in the basement of an empty house when it gets too intense There's a quiet ringing in the corner of my brain And it's so bloody hard to suppress the call to kill again I have to bribe the demons with a beautiful woman that's not my own I sing to her all those wonderful lines all the other men can't control There's a quiet moment in the night when she's all mine And the darkness surrounds She's now ready to be my prey When the darkness surrounds her face She'll be mine to take I remember being so cold I was shaking Oh she warmed me up Surrendered those beautiful eyes It wasn't right to do But I learned that night what it's like to be taken in the night It's just a matter of time before I get that feeling again I'm stealing eyes and feeding them lies just to find a way There has to be a way to quiet my insistent hunger for your legs And it's so fucking hard to resist it I have my way with words

And they all sounds the same All the people that are calling my name I am too fixed on the songs that I sing And I feel I don't have much time I just feel helpless against the clock Wasting away With hours and days of talking up things that I need to do Persistence of time is taking over my mind I don't know why I stopped sleeping And I'm always awake when I'm dreaming of time taking over my mind I'm the same man, but with stronger hands And I've broken all my ties But these nimble hands have made me envy of my kind Would I trade my love from the gift to compose? Well I gave up too much to write these notes Would I burn all of my trust? I don't know of a single person I haven't hurt Why should I waste my precious time? Persistence of time is taking over my mind I don't know why I stopped sleeping And I'm always awake when I'm dreaming of time taking over my mind Should I waste my time with sleep when I know that I am meant for much greater things? Would I kill just to transcend? I would do disgusting things to stand in the end Persistence of time is taking over my mind I don't know why I stopped sleeping And I'm always awake when I'm dreaming of time taking over my mind

Stay Hungry 02:54
So, stay hungry and never let them see your weaknesses Don't close your heart to music like your father did You'll regret yourself when you're older kid The weight of your words are like hammers You can turn the world around or you can sit down and shut up and let someone else take your place Use your time to raise the bar for yourself There will always be wolves on your tail You have to stay hungry to be the king of the hill So stay hungry, boy Don't let them take you down So, stay hungry and never let them see your weaknesses So, stay hungry or you'll be climbing to the top again

I finally built myself up as a young man with too much to prove And it wore me down I showed them all But to what end would I stop? Oh, I couldn't tell I was so stupid and bold I'd stab you in the back for the chance to be known I cannot fight the fear that I had as a child I was alone in this world And I... And I still am, due to the way that I've been And I still am left to my devices I guess I made myself into the man I feared I would be I was stronger I felt invincible I rode that horse to it's grave I devoured every soul I could eat I was wrong and I was wrong and I was wrong for what I did I was so stupid and bold I'd stab you in the back for the chance to be known I cannot fight the fear that I had as a child I was alone in this world And I still am

I find myself looking into my own face from the puddle I crawled upon Now I wait for a message from the stars Why am I the forgotten one? Should I try and give this thing one more chance I better change my reasons or I'll regret it
10.
If I've told you once, I've told myself a thousand times Lock yourself in a room codex and sing me a thousand lines We don't kill for fun because now the baby bird is all alone And the mother is in your arms It's taken years for it to leave my head The burning buildings The broken bodies The people crying I hope you never understand (I hope you don't understand)
11.
Dear Ensign, I relay this message to you Please help me! It is one of great importance, so be sure to follow through Please help me! I'm trapped in a stasis that will not be undone by a lone man It takes the strength of others to make your own withstand And I'll be right here lying (Save me) And I will be right here lying Until you see me through Lock down, nobody move This isn't just a game I think they're on to you There's a chance for anything (Save me) And I will be right here waiting Until it's time to move Sit down, nobody move Don't speak, don't make a sound Get down, I'm coming through It's time to arm ourselves There was a battle that unfolded right before my eyes I thought it was the end So, let it be learned that you are going to get burned one day Who will be there to save you?
12.
A one turns to a two and I'm the only one with open eyes Sparks shine as I drag myself to a corner Did the almighty dollar pull my inner child from my dreams or did I? Did I? Time is running and there isn't much for me to spare I come to you as a lowly man I've lost so many dreams on account of material things It's all so clear when it's gone Here in my fallen state, I have to stop this wanting Because, where is it going? Here I thought I was just dreaming The closer I look, the closer I get It is not dream that has me alarmed It's not the dream, it's the want It's the drive to take it all that scares the hell out of me Because I destroy everything that I touch That I love That I want I hope you're never like me Oh baby boy, I hope you're never like me Oh baby boy, you look like your father when he refused to sing Oh baby boy, because he knew that I did such bad things Oh baby boy, you have the heart to be what I can't be
13.
Well son, I'm awake Let's start our morning chores Countless hours it will take before you can move You see, this gift is not what we've asked for But it would be a waste for us to fall in love and fall asleep I must emphasize creativity because it will set you apart Yeah, others may sing but they can't write your songs Others may play but it's only just a toy Yeah, others may sing but they don't know what the words mean I'm waiting for the strength I need from you I can't get through this with just my own Don't save your breath until the last minute So don't break it Don't leave me here I can't do this alone Now I'm served in full It comes full circle
